Cookies Policy

This Cookie Policy sets out the rules for storing and accessing information on the devices of users of the CLL.umk.pl website, hereinafter referred to as the “Website”, through the use of cookies and similar technologies.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files saved on the user’s device (computer, smartphone, tablet) while browsing the Website. They allow the user’s device to be recognised on subsequent visits and enable certain Website functionalities to work correctly.

2. Who administers the cookies?

The administrator of first-party cookies is Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, ul. Gagarina 11, 87-100 Toruń. In the case of third-party cookies, the relevant external entity acts as the administrator.

3. Types of cookies used

The Website uses the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies – necessary for the correct operation of the Website, enabling the use of its basic functions (e.g. maintaining a user session). These do not require the user’s consent.
  • Functional cookies – allow the Website to remember user choices, such as preferred language, contrast mode, or previously expressed consents to external tools.
  • Statistical cookies – used to collect anonymous statistical data about how the Website is used, enabling its improvement (e.g. Google Analytics: _ga, _gid, _gat).
  • Marketing cookies – used for remarketing purposes and to track user activity in order to display tailored advertisements (e.g. Facebook Pixel).

4. Purposes of using cookies

Cookies are used for the following purposes:

  • ensuring the correct operation of the Website,
  • maintaining user sessions,
  • remembering user settings and preferences,
  • analysing Website traffic and statistics,
  • tailoring content to user needs,
  • carrying out marketing and remarketing activities,
  • ensuring the security of the Website.

5. Third-party cookies

The Website uses cookies from the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) – statistical analysis of Website traffic. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • CUX – qualitative and quantitative analysis of user behaviour (heat maps, conversion analysis). Data is collected in an anonymised manner.
  • Facebook Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.) – marketing and remarketing activities. Privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy

The Website may also embed content from services such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and SoundCloud, which may store their own cookies on the user’s device.

6. Web Storage

In addition to cookies, the Website uses the browser’s Web Storage mechanism (localStorage / sessionStorage). Data stored in Web Storage is not automatically sent to the server and is used solely to improve the Website’s performance and for anonymous analysis of user behaviour via the CUX tool.

7. Cookie retention period

Cookies are stored for the following periods:

  • Session cookies – deleted automatically when the browser window is closed.
  • Persistent cookies – stored on the user’s device for the period specified in the cookie parameters, or until manually deleted by the user.

8. Managing cookies

Users may change their cookie settings at any time directly in their web browser – in particular, they may block cookies from being saved automatically or request notification each time a cookie is stored on their device.

9. Legal basis

Storing cookies on the user’s device and accessing them takes place on the basis of the user’s consent, with the exception of essential cookies necessary for the provision of electronic services, which are applied on the basis of the legitimate interests of the administrator (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR) and applicable telecommunications law.
